Abstract

The objectives of the study are to identify the types of moral values found in Billie Eilish’s When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? album. The study applies Buzan's (2003) theory, which classifies moral values into eleven different types, they are bravery, humbleness, honesty, steadfastness, sympathetic to others, cooperativeness, thankfulness, kind-hearted, trustworthiness, sincerity, love and affection. This study applies a descriptive qualitative method. The data are collected from Billie Eilish’s When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? album entitled: Bad Guy, Wish You Were Gay, When the Party’s Over, Goodbye, I Love You, Listen Before I Go, Bury A Friend, You Should See Me in A Crown, All the Good Girls Go to Hell, and My Strange Addiction. The analysis results in 7 types of moral values, they are bravery, humbleness, honesty, steadfastness, sincerity, trustworthiness, and kind-hearted. The album reflects various important moral values and characteristics positive values. In addition, it also shows that modern popular music can be a source of understanding and analyzing moral values in society.
