Slang Word by Gen-Z at PPA Immanuel Namorambe

This study aims to identify and describe the meaning and type of slang words by gen-z at PPA Immanuel Namorambe. As for the background of this research, researchers found the development of language in the communication process between gen-z at PPA Immanuel Namorambe. To identify and describe the problems above, the researcher use theory of Allan and Burridge (2006) which formulates five types of slang, namely fresh and creative, flippant, imitative, clipping, and acronym. The research method used by the researcher in this thesis research is a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection techniques in the form of field studies by researchers act as participants, observation, documentation, and interviews. In this study, the researchers used data analysis techniques using the Miles and Huberman models, namely data collection, data display, data condensation, and data conclusions. Finally, the researcher found 20 slang words in the data collection. All the data is then processed and analyzed to get the meaning based on the context and categorize the type of slang. The data are Lebay, Kuy, Anjay, Cepu, Krik-krik, Ngegas, Nongki, Mager, Gabut, Gaje, Bucin, Mantul, Salting, Mabar, Salfok, Cogan, Say, GPL, SKSD, and DL. Meanwhile, there are 4 types of slang, namely Fresh and Creative, Imitative, Clipping, and Acronym.
